When you combine a home theater and holiday movies you might ask yourself, do I even need to leave my house in the next six months? Imagine having your own little cozy lair filled with snacks where all your favorite movies are played. Yes, even the guilty pleasure ones.
Because of Covid-19 and state restrictions, theaters have been closed for a while. The reopening of theatres is still up in the air which is very hard for avid moviegoers. We bet you miss that feeling of anticipation of what the movie would be like, connecting on an emotional level with movie characters and their fates as warm popcorn is melting in your mouth.
Nothing can replace that feeling. But, we can try improvising with a home theater system.
This year, Covid-19 was the Grinch that stole our movies but there is still hope to enjoy your favorite activity on holidays. Can you even imagine a holiday season without your favorite movies? Even though you probably know every word, that is an integral part of our Holiday traditions. It is time to improvise and turn your home theater room into a Christmas special episode.
Let’s talk decoration first
Which colors remind you of the holiday season? Of course, warm and bright red. Color that always seems festive and reminds you of joy. Also pine branches and warm, gold lights. Remember not to go over the top with too many lights. Place them strategically to give a necessary dose of warmth to the entire atmosphere.
A Christmas tree is also a perfect winter decoration addition to place in the corner of your room. You don’t have to go over the top with it, just to subtly remind you that it’s the most wonderful time of the year. Cushions are always a welcome addition, utilize holiday themes wisely. Also, pay attention to cup holders so you can enjoy a cup of tea or warm cocoa.
Don’t forget to add a vintage popcorn maker to the mix. If it is decorative, it will blend in perfectly with the whole Christmas setting and you will always have a refill ready.
If you are wanting to add more of an artistic appeal to your media room, you can add acoustic wall art panels with movie motives. The acoustic and decor will be drastically improved.
Silent night, movie night: Audio/Video equipment
During the holidays, decorations are what you see and enjoy looking at, but have you thought about what you don’t see but you feel? If you want to have a feeling that you are in a real cinematic experience, you need to work on your room acoustics.
If you are an avid stargazer, we have a little something that will completely steal the spotlight. Wintertime is not always welcoming for the cinema, but what if we tell you that we have just the right thing for you? You will enjoy both Hollywood stars and the subtle light of starry skies with AG StarField Ceiling Tiles. They are amazing with taming the reverberation and are incredibly easy to install. Get the starry sky in the comfort of your own home.
The next possible addition to your home theater room is the curve diffusor. For the most natural-sounding atmosphere in your home theater room place diffusers – you won’t even notice that they are there, yet you will be amazed by the effect they are making.
To fully enjoy your favorite movies, we recommend that you eliminate all outside noise as well. A lot of noise can come through windows and doors, so Studio 3d door would be an amazing choice to eliminate all the noise.
If you don’t know where to begin or which product to buy first, we are happy to inform you that we offer Pro Room packages. Based on your needs and spaces we are working with, we will craft the right solution for you that will change your home theater experience for you – forever.
Our all-time favorites
You can find your favorites on blu-ray or you can connect your home theater with various streaming services, but we can all agree that these classics are a must:
‘’It’s a Wonderful Life’’ (1946) – a classic for everyone
The holiday season is always here to remind us that life is worth living. We all get emotional and teary-eyed when we watch this one. What about you? Which quote is your favorite?
Home Alone (1990) – a favorite family comedy
Admit it, you are still laughing hard at all the traps Kevin had set for Harry and Marv even three decades later. Macaulay Culkin plays an adorable and very creative kid named Kevin, who we love watching protect his home as his family leaves him on accident as they fly off to Paris. This movie is indeed a part of a holiday tradition.
Die Hard (1988) – a bit of action for a cozy day
Whatever people say, ‘’Die Hard’’ is indeed a Christmas movie and is a purebred 80’s hero guilty pleasure. It is a must-watch accompanied by ‘’Terminator 2’’. And yes, it is completely normal for boys to cry on that one.
Love Actually (2003) – a guilty pleasure for ladies and lovebirds
Something for ladies with a stellar British cast. We all know that ‘’To me, you are perfect’’ scene. And to you, this movie will indeed be perfect.
Tim Burton movies
Tim Burton movies are classics with amazing gothic settings. They are always light-hearted as opposed to a gloomy atmosphere. You can watch the amazing claymation movie, ‘’Nightmare Before Christmas’’ or try ‘’Edward Scissorhands” to watch an artificial humanoid holiday film. It’s the holiday season so why not watch both? Make it a marathon!
Disney movies
You are never too old to watch a Disney movie. Time to remember some great classics. There are a lot of live-action remakes so why not try both?
Epic movies
Since we have a lot of spare time, it is the right moment to watch the director’s cut of all your favorites. Let’s mention a few like the ‘’The Lord of the Rings’’, “Star Wars”, and the ‘’Harry Potter’’ series. You know them all so why not dive in and enjoy them again while you have the time.
