Acousti-Gasket Tape

An economical, high-tech isolation tape that uses a cellular membrane to reduce vibration transfer through hard surfaces. Simply roll and use the peel-and-stick backer to attach it to the bottom of studs or joists before applying drywall to reduce the amount of contact the rock has with the studs. This special tape reduces vibration transmission by dissipating sound energy to reduce footstep impact noise in floor and ceiling construction.

This self-stick tape is made of low-density viscoelastic cellular rubber, which makes it a poor transmitter or conductor of sound, as it will dissipate sound energy. The tape can be placed between floor joists and sub-floor sheathing, on studs, or between layers of drywall to greatly reduce sound and vibration transfer.
