Some rooms just need a bit of help, and when we started our new “Acoustic Interventions” video series, we were sent an inquiry by Neil Weir, the owner of Old Blackberry Way Studio in Minneapolis, one of the longest-running recording studios in the Midwest. During thirty-plus years of operation, the renowned facility has recorded such outstanding bands as The Replacements, Hüsker Dü, The Suburbs, and Soul Asylum, as well as hundreds of other artists.
Neil asked us if we would do an “intervention”, so we brought along several of our acclaimed Curve Diffusors to add to his full set of absorber panels and treatments. We installed three Medium Curves and two Small Curves in the control room, and Neil played a bunch of familiar music on his system. We video’d his first impressions and – after a 30-minute “listening time-out” – we got his more in-depth thoughts on how his room had changed (for the better!). See what he had to say in the video below, and let us know if you have any thoughts on our “Acoustic Interventions”.
